Troops of the Nigerian Army(NA) have apprehended 27 suspected illegal miners in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

A source close to the NA disclosed on Tuesday that troops of 7 Guards Battalion under Operation MESA raided an illegal mining site at Iddah in Bwari Area Council of the FCT and arrested the 27 suspects.
Illegal miners’ camps were also reportedly destroyed during the exercise.
The military source said items recovered during the operation included a dane gun, four motorcycles and assorted mining equipment.
