The Kano State Executive Council has approved the appointment of Management and Board Members of the Kano State Mining Company(KSMC).
The approvals were announced at a press briefing by the Commissioner for information and internal Affairs Ibrahim Waiya following the outcome of the Council’s 35th meeting presided over by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at the Government House, Kano.

While the full individual roster for the Mining Company board has not been officially released in detail, the sector is overseen by the recently established Ministry of Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, later renamed Ministry of Mineral Resources.
Key Leadership in Kano State Mining Sector are:
Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources: Alhaji Safiyanu Hamza Kachako.
Permanent Secretary: Engineer Mansur Yakubu.
Director of Mines: Muhammad Bala.
Director of Public Enlightenment: Adamu Ibrahim Dabo.
In addition to the company’s management, an advisory committee was inaugurated earlier in 2025 to guide the state’s mining strategies.
Members of the committee are:
Chairman: Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo (Deputy Governor).
Secretary: Mansur Yakubu.
Other Members:
Prof. Ibrahim Garba (Former VC, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.)
Balarabe Sa’idu Gani (Former Speaker, Kano House of Assembly).
AVM Halliru Labaran (retd.).
Prof. Idris Muslim.
Alhaji Aminu Abba Ibrahim.
Alhaji Nasiru Wada (Magajin Gari).
The state government is currently focused on formalizing artisanal mining and securing international partnerships to diversify revenue through resources such as gold, lithium, and uranium.
