Kaduna Mining Development Company (KMDC) has entered into a strategic partnership with Xcalibur Smart Mapping to advance surface mineral potential mapping and strengthen the monitoring of Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining (ASM) activities across Kaduna State.
KMDC disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

According to the company, “This landmark collaboration aligns directly with the vision of His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani, Executive Governor of Kaduna State, to reposition the solid minerals sector through data-driven governance, transparency, environmental responsibility, and sustainable economic growth.
“Through the deployment of advanced geospatial and satellite-based surface mapping technologies, supported by Xcalibur’s SmartGeoMap® platform, the project will deliver a comprehensive mineral potential assessment and enable continuous, year-long monitoring of ASM operations, commencing January 2026.
“The initiative will enhance mineral sector planning, support the formalization of ASM, strengthen environmental oversight, and improve evidence-based decision-making across the mining value chain.
“At KMDC, we remain committed to leveraging innovation and strategic partnerships to unlock Kaduna State’s mineral wealth responsibly—driving inclusive development, investor confidence, and long-term sustainability.”
