Alleged illegal mining: Ebonyi community seeks Mining Marshal’s intervention

The Amalokpa development association ( ADA) of Ivon Local government of Eboniyi State has called on the Mining Marshals to wade into alleged illegal mining activities going on in their community.

In a statement signed by the community Chairman, Mr Ajah Friday, the group claims activities of Greenfields Metals, said to be owned by one Henry Ahanato, was sponsoring unrest amounting to destruction of property.

They said this was to pave way for the company’s alleged illegal mining activities.

The group also urged the Marshals to order the company to vacate Ekubara land allegedly taken over forcefully by the Company without the consent and approval of the community.

ADA also demands public apology to the people of the community through national dailies and recognize television stations for the company’s alleged sponsorship of arson leading to destruction of property belonging to the company.

The group also demanded compensation of three billion naira from the company for unprovoked alleged attack and destruction of land in the company.

They urged the Marshals to, as a matter of urgency, wade into the situation before it escalates by investigating the activities of the company.
