Taraba Governor signs executive orders on mining, others

Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas has signed three executive orders regulating mining activities to protect host communities, banning political thuggery, and intensifying the fight against drug abuse across the state.

Kefas signed the executive orders on Sunday, 2nd August, 2026,
at the Executive Chamber of the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo, describing the measures as critical steps towards strengthening security, protecting communities, and securing the future of Taraba State.

He said the executive orders became necessary to safeguard lives and property while promoting peace, responsible governance, and sustainable development.

On mining activities, the governor said the executive order was designed to ensure responsible and well-regulated mining operations while protecting the welfare and interests of host communities.

He added that the Taraba State Government would continue to work closely with the Federal Government and the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development to ensure that mining activities comply with existing laws and global best practices.

Kefas expressed confidence that the executive orders would improve public safety, strengthen governance, and support sustainable development across Taraba State.
