The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has engaged staff of the Matabeleland South Provincial Mining Office in an anti-corruption awareness workshop aimed at promoting integrity, transparency and accountability in public service.
The one-day workshop, held on October 23, 2026, was organised to strengthen awareness of anti-corruption principles and encourage ethical conduct among mining sector personnel.
The ZACC delegation was led by its Provincial Head, Mr Midzi, while Inspector Ndlovu of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), Gwanda, also attended the engagement.
The Ministry of Mines and Mining Development delegation was led by the Matabeleland South Provincial Mining Director, Mr Munyanduri.
The workshop provided an opportunity to reinforce the importance of maintaining high ethical standards in the discharge of official responsibilities, particularly in the administration and regulation of the mining sector.
Participants were reminded of the need to uphold integrity, transparency and accountability in their professional activities, as part of broader efforts to promote responsible public service and strengthen confidence in government institutions.
The engagement also underscored the importance of cooperation between anti-corruption authorities, law enforcement agencies and government departments in promoting ethical practices and discouraging corruption.
The mining sector plays a significant role in Zimbabwe’s economy, making transparency and accountability in its administration important to ensuring that mineral resources are managed responsibly and that regulatory processes are conducted fairly.
The workshop forms part of efforts to raise awareness of corruption-related risks and encourage public officials to adhere to established standards of professional conduct.
Through engagements of this nature, the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission and relevant government institutions seek to foster a culture of integrity and accountability in public administration, including the mining industry.
The meeting concluded with a renewed emphasis on ethical behaviour, transparency and the collective responsibility of public officials to support the fight against corruption.
