Segilola Resources Operating Limited, Nigeria’s pioneering large-scale gold mining company and a subsidiary of Thor Explorations Ltd, has inaugurated a newly constructed royal palace in Imogbara and officially launched a youth empowerment initiative across Imogbara and Iperindo communities in Osun State.
The projects, which fall under the firm’s Community Development Agreement (CDA) obligations, underscore its commitment to sustainable development, cultural preservation, and inclusive impact in its areas of operation.
The newly commissioned palace stands as a landmark of cultural significance in Imogbara. Built in collaboration with the community, the edifice reflects the history, pride, and leadership of the people, providing a functional seat of traditional governance.
In addition to the palace, Segilola Resources rolled out a Youth Empowerment Scheme aimed at reducing unemployment and boosting youth-driven enterprise. The initiative includes the donation of commercial mini-buses popularly known as Korope with three each allocated to Imogbara and Iperindo. The buses are expected to support transport-based micro-enterprises and provide a stable income for young people in the communities.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Ms. Madhurii Sakar-Amoda, Community Development and Stakeholder Manager at SROL, said:

Further cementing its development footprint, the company also completed a 2.4-kilometre interlocking road linking Imogbara to Odo Ijesa. The infrastructure is expected to improve transportation, boost access to markets, and strengthen economic integration for local residents.
With these community-driven initiatives, Segilola Resources continues to position itself as a model for responsible mining creating lasting value through partnerships that elevate people and preserve culture.
