*Ms. Rose Chundung Ndong (FNMGS)
The Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS) has announced the assumption of office of Ms. Rose Chundung Ndong (FNMGS) as its 33rd President, effective Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
Her assumption of office follows a landmark election during the Society’s Diamond Jubilee Annual International Conference & Exhibition, held from February 16–21, 2025, at the ChidaInternational Hotel, Abuja, under the theme: “Transformation of the Mineral, Energy, Water, and Construction Sectors through Innovations.”
She takes over from Prof. Akinade Olatunji, who recently completed a successful tour of duty as president of the organisation.
According to a statement by Dr. Matthew Oyedokun, Chairman of the Installation Committes, Ms. Ndong brings decades of expertise spanning geosciences, mining, and the energy sector.
Before her election as President, she served in various executive capacities within the NMGS Council, most recently as Vice President, where she played a pivotal role in advancing the Society’s strategic objectives.
Her extensive experience and leadership will be instrumental in driving integrated,
sustainable solutions for Nigeria’s extractive industries and natural resource management.
As Nigeria’s foremost professional body for mining and geosciences, NMGS remains committed to:

Reaffirming her commitment to the Society’s mission, Ms. Ndong stated:

The NMGS statement said it was inviting all stakeholders—government agencies, industry leaders, academia, and international partners—to collaborate in achieving these goals.
