Suspected gunmen have shot and killed two artisanal miners from Heipang District, Barkin Ladi LGA, at a site near Kuru Jenta along the boundary of Jos South and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas in Plateau State.
The attack occurred late Friday night during a state-imposed dusk-to-dawn curfew.
The incident follows a recent pattern of attacks on mining sites in the region, including a prior assault in Barkin Ladi LGA that left three women dead, highlighting ongoing security challenges despite government curfews and deployments.

Plateau State Police Command spokesman Alabo Alfred was unavailable for comment at the time of the report.

Rwang Tengwong, spokesperson for the Berom Youth Moulders-Association, decried the violence and called on security forces to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Community member Weng Bulus also condemned the killings and urged residents to avoid night operations and respect curfew restrictions to prevent security risks.
