Kano State Ministry of Solid Minerals and Natural Resources has reaffirmed its dedication to identifying and estimating solid mineral reserves.
The reaffirmation was made recently at the conference room of the ministry during an interactive meeting with representatives from Alwein International SMC, an experienced core drilling exploration firm operating across Africa, according to a statement by the spokesperson of the ministry, Adamu Ibrahim Dabo, MNGE.
Commissioner Alhaji Hamza Safiyanu, represented by the Permanent Secretary Engineer Mansur Yakubu, maintained that the ministry is much aware that investors relied heavily on the discovered deposit of Solid Minerals estimate hence emphasized the importance of collaboration in solid mineral exploration.
He noted the significant financial challenges associated with core drilling and highlighted the ministry’s intention to seek assistance from organizations such as the World Bank and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) to facilitate effective exploration efforts.
The meeting featured contributions from the project manager and team lead of Alwein International SMC, Alhaji Zaharaddeen Wada, who advocated for a renewed focus on assessing the mineral reserves in Kano State. He indicated that the firm has fourteen drilling machines available for use and added that a minimum of two thousand meters of core drilling could be undertaken by the firm that operates in two shifts daily.
Directors from the ministry, including Muhammad Bala, Muhammad Usman Sa’id, Suwaiba Sadeh, and Garba Ibrahim Karaye also provided some insights and contributions during the interactive discussions.
Adamu Ibrahim Dabo said the Ministry is committed to leveraging the expertise of Alwein International SMC and exploring other potential partnerships to enhance the exploration of solid mineral resources in Kano State.
