Segilola Resources Operating Limited (SROL) has successfully concluded its 2025 football tournament, a three-day sporting event that brought together 12 teams of male and female footballers drawn from SROL staff and host communities in Osun State.
The annual tournament, held from Friday, April 25 to Sunday, April 27 at the Iperindo Community Field, was a testament to SROL’s ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR). The event championed youth inclusion, community cohesion, and local talent development.
Teams competed in a blend of round-robin and knockout matches, culminating in highly anticipated grand finals and a festive closing ceremony on Sunday. The tournament saw robust participation across gender lines, reflecting SROL’s focus on inclusive community engagement.
Speaking on the tournament’s impact, Austin Menegbo, Country Manager of SROL, said:

The male category featured eight teams split into two groups:
Group A: Segun FC, Lee FC, Louise FC, Ettienne FC
Group B: James FC, Julian FC, Collins FC, Chris FC
In the female category, four teams competed:
Group A: Aderinokun FC, Adeoye FC
Group B: Alf FC, Adrian FC
After intense matchups through the quarterfinals and semifinals, Segun FC and Adrian FC faced off in the male final, while Chris FC clashed with Aderinokun FC in the female final. Both matches ended in a thrilling 5-4 victory for Segun FC and Chris FC respectively.
Third-place matches were also held, with James FC and Adeoye FC clinching wins in the male and female categories. A novelty match between staff from SROL and SINIC Engineering Ltd added an entertaining edge to the closing festivities.
Adewale David, captain of Segun FC, expressed his appreciation: “This tournament means everything to us beyond simply winning. It was an opportunity to be seen, heard, and being given a chance to shine. We are grateful to SROL for creating a space where our community feels united and celebrated,” he said.
Similarly, Opetunsi Fayoke, captain of Chris FC, praised the inclusivity of the event. He said: “This tournament has given us as women a platform to compete, to bond, and to feel just as valued. Honestly, it is an amazing feeling to step on the field and feel the support of your community behind you and for that, we appreciate SROL for giving us this space to grow and show what we are capable of.”
