A bill proposing the upgrade of Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa Federal University of Mining, Engineering and Technology Nasarawa has successfully passed its first reading at the National Assembly.

The bill, titled “An Act to Upgrade the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa to the Federal University of Mining, Engineering, and Technology Nasarawa as a Training Institution for the Development of Mining Engineering and Technology,” underscores the importance of developing human capacity in mining and related technologies. If passed into law, the university will play a crucial role in advancing the nation’s mining sector.

Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, established in 1983, has a strong foundation in technological development and vocational skills acquisition.
With a student population of over 10,000, the institution currently offers various National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programs across six schools, including Engineering Technology, Applied Sciences, and Environmental Studies.
