The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has disciplined 79 personnel for professional misconduct.
Among the personnel sanctioned are two operatives who opened fire on suspected illegal miners without clearance.
Commandant General Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi disclosed the
disciplinary actions, stressing the Corps’ zero-tolerance stance on institutional compromise.
Disciplinary proceedings against 75 officers — ranging from one Assistant Commandant General to junior ranks — have concluded following probes conducted under Public Service Rules. Offenses cited include job racketeering, financial fraud, theft, unauthorized absence, and acts threatening state security. Penalties include dismissal, forced retirement, and referral for prosecution.
A notable case involves the February 2026 killing of Mining Marshals Commander Levi Agada in Nasarawa State. Two operatives who opened fire on suspected illegal miners without clearance have been sacked and referred for criminal trial.
Separately, four officers face parallel scrutiny from the Corps’ Special Intelligence Squad and military police over alleged illegal arms dealing.
NSCDC maintained that the misconduct of a few does not define the wider Corps, adding that all affected persons retain rights to due process.
