Kwara Commissioner for Solid Minerals receives TheMiners team, reiterates state governor’s vow to develop minerals sector

The Kwara State government would stop at nothing in its determination to ensure that the natural resources of the state is harnessed and developed for the well being of citizens of the state.
The Commissioner of Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, Kwara State, Dr. Afees Abolore, announced this when he led other management members of the ministry to receive the management team of Miners Communications Ltd, publishers of The Miners magazine, who paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner’s Office in Ilorin.
Dr Abolore said the establishment of the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development is a practical demonstration of the will of the state governor, AbdulRasaq AbdulRahman to ensure that Kwara derives maximum benefits from the many solid minerals resources which the state is blessed with.
He also expressed the government’s readiness to partner with individuals and organizations ready to work with the state to ensure the growth of its mining sector.
“Kwara is one of the States blessed with large quantities of mineral deposits and if properly harnessed, these minerals would sustain the economy of this state and the country at large”, he said.
Some of the mineral resources in the state include Lithium, Petroleum, Gold, limestone, marble, feldspar, clay, kaolin, quartz and granite rocks, and laterite. The State government recently registered five Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) as part of its measures to acquire viable mining sites in the state.
Abolore thanked the The Miners team for the pioneering role as a media organization solely focused on providing information on the Solid Minerals sector in Nigeria. He expressed his ministry’s readiness to work with the organization as the platform to disseminate information on Kwara government’s activities in the Solid Minerals sector.


The Managing Director of Miners Communications, Alhaji Mikail Mumuni explained that it was time that Nigerians started enjoying the massive benefits accruable from the many solid minerals with which the country is blessed. He praised the Kwara State governor for aligning its policies with that of the Federal Government, saying a collaboration between the two levels of government portends a bright future for the people of Kwara and Nigeria in general.
Mumuni explained that Miners Communications was born out of a desire to provide needed information for local and foreign investors about the abundance of mineral resources in Nigeria, what the key players are doing and how government policies could assist them in their activities.
Present at the meeting were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Olokoba and directors as well as departmental heads.
