Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Oladele Alake, will take part in a one-on-one session at the African Mining Week (AMW) 2025 conference scheduled for October 1 to 3 in Cape Town, South Africa.
The theme of the conference is “Leadership and Innovation Shaping the Future of Mining”.
Expected at the event are policymakers, investors, and industry leaders from across the continent.
According to the organisers, Alake’s session will focus on Nigeria’s progress in unlocking opportunities in large-scale mining and diversifying its economy through solid minerals.
Nigeria has placed emphasis on the development of its vast deposits of lithium, gold, iron ore, and other solid minerals as part of its broader economic strategy. The government has stressed the role of mining in creating jobs, generating revenue, and supporting industrialisation.
In a statement announcing the minister’s participation, the organisers of African Mining Week noted that the platform “offers an opportunity for African countries to present their mining strategies and investment opportunities to international stakeholders.”
The event will also feature fireside chats with mining ministers from Egypt, Ghana, and Zimbabwe, alongside Nigeria’s presentation. Delegates will engage in discussions on policy implementation, beneficiation, and investment strategies within Africa’s mining landscape.
African Mining Week is being held in parallel with the African Energy Week: Invest in African Energies 2025 conference, creating a joint forum for dialogue between the mining and energy sectors.
