The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, has led a delegation from the Nigeria Solid Minerals Company (NSMC) to the White House for high-level talks aimed at strengthening strategic cooperation between Nigeria and the United States in the solid minerals sector.
The ministry, in a statement, disclosed that the delegation met with David Copley, Special Assistant to the U.S. President and Senior Director for Global Supply Chain at the National Security Council, as well as Diana London of DCI Group, to explore opportunities for increased investment in Nigeria’s mining industry.
According to the statement, discussions centred on expanding collaboration across the critical minerals value chain, including geological exploration, mining, mineral processing, value addition and refining.
The meeting also focused on strengthening secure and resilient supply chains for critical minerals considered essential to the global energy transition.
The ministry said the engagement forms part of ongoing efforts to deepen the Nigeria–United States strategic partnership while attracting greater foreign investment into the country’s solid minerals sector.
It noted that the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which places emphasis on economic diversification, industrialisation, job creation and the attraction of strategic investments into key sectors of the economy.
The ministry added that the discussions further reinforce the growing investment-driven partnership between Nigeria and the United States, with a focus on sustainable mineral development, local value addition and shared economic prosperity.
Alake confirmed this in a statement he posted on his social media handle.
He wrote:
I led our delegation from the Nigeria Solid Minerals Company to the White House for a series of focused discussions with David Copley at the U.S. National Security Council and Diana London from the DCI Group.
Our focus is building a real, investment-driven partnership between Nigeria and the United States. We talked about moving beyond simple extraction and working together across the entire supply chain, from exploration and mining to local processing and refining.
This aligns directly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision to diversify our economy, create jobs, and ensure Nigeria gets full value from its natural resources while supporting the global shift toward clean energy.
