Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State
, Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe, on Friday led a team of security personnel to effect the arrest of some foreign nationals and local miners involved in illegal mining activities at a site in Amba Community in Kokona Local Government Area of the state.
During the operation, security personnel recovered suspected mineral resources stored in cartons, alongside various equipment, including CCTV cameras and other operational materials, believed to being used for illegal mining activities
The enforcement exercise is said to be part of the Nasarawa State Government’s continued efforts to clamp down on illegal mining, protect the state’s mineral resources, and ensure that mining activities are conducted in line with approved regulations.
The arrested suspects are expected to undergo further investigation by relevant authorities for possible prosecution.
