The Kano State Government has asked holders of mining permits to present such for verification to enable the government build a database of legal operators in the state.
The State Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development and Natural Resources, Alhaji Safiyanu Hamza Kachako stated this in Kano.
The policy is said to be in line with the commissioner’s Agenda in strengthening the activities of licenced miners and stop the illegal miners from their fraudulent activities in the state.
The verification runs from Monday, 9th to Friday,13th December, 2024 by 10am each day, at the Ministry’s Conference Hall, Gidan Murtala opposite Fire Service Station.
The Commissioner stressed that “the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is poised to streamline and modernise the Kano State Solid Minerals Sector and this is one of the steps lined up to achieve the goals.
“Kano is prepared to welcome major national and international investors to its mining sector to the benefit of the people of Kano State.”
