The Adamawa State Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Mr. Ibrahim Haruna, has said that the state has large quantity of gold deposits across the state.
The Commissioner who spoke exclusively to our correspondent in Yola said that the administration of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, is working tirelessly to ensure that illegal minners did not take over those areas.
The Commissioner said that local governments with large quantities are: Toungo, Genye, Mayo-belwa and Madagali and that Fofure local government also have gold deposit.
“The State have a solid minerals minning company, this is to ensure that the state government with its federal government licence can minned it solid minerals without third party, ” he said.
Investigation by our correspondent revealed that with the proposed bill at the Senate by senator Natasha Uduaghan, Kogi Central tagged, “Gold Reform Bill” the Adamawa State government is ready to reject the bill.
The bill has a draconian clause that stated that any land with gold deposit is the exclusive rights of the Federal Government to take over.
The bill has passed second reading in the Senate.
